I switched back in 2005 after one too many times reformatting the hard drive on my Dell system. I used both platforms in Undergrad but got a PC in Grad School (also Win 3.2) then one Mac after the other and now I use a Mac at home and PC at work (not much choice there).

Great article - I switched right around when hard-drives replaced floppy disks, when mammoths still roamed the tundra and tiny black and white monitors stalked the cubicles... I read and re-read the "Mac Bible" 'til all the pages curled up and chug-a-lugged all the Apple Kool-aid I could stomache - those were the days! All the time in the world I had, and I spent it all on Macintosh, every minute, every hour, every week soaking up the sunny rays of Jobs & company... Ah, good times indeed.

Damn, such a nice story. I have only a Hackintosh (i still say that is too expensive $3000 for a mac vs less than $1000 for my PC), but i'm in love :D

My switch to Mac was due infact to Vista. I got Vista Ultimate and my whole life became miserable. I screwed up my itunes, wouldn't read my mass storage devices (including my iPod), and several programs didn't work.

I was working in Spain at the time and a coworker was going back to the states. I handed him $1200 bucks and pleaded for him to bring back a MacBook.

I've been in love ever since. I now own the Mac Book, Mighty Mouse, wireless keyboard, iPhone, and my iPod Shuffle AND I didn't have to pay $400 dollars for an office suite that does a better job than MS Office.

>>>1996 to be precise, when I purchased my first PC.

Oh you frikkin naif!

My first PC was more than a decade earlier: A Commodore-64. Man, 300bps on CompuServe was da shizzle then.

And I used a Mac in 1984. And stopped after my LC III, when I missed the (later much needed!) System 7 upgrade and couldn't frikkin find it to buy!

Soon I will be back to Mac...
