AT&T’s vision of a technological future, as seen from 1993, largely came true; but not in the totalitarian telecommunications controlled scheme it envisioned… thank God. Watch the video, have a laugh, then sit speechless as you realize we are now living in the world depicted in this ad. “You are”.
Every web designer has his or hers favorite font for use in graphic elements. For me it’s Avenir. I love its clean simple lines, elegant curvatures, and classic look. There are few applications I haven’t found for it. Whether designing a modern looking (web 2.0) design or classical motif, Avenir just looks beautiful.
What happens when a fetish becomes obsession, then turns into a life consuming preoccupation that drives friends and family away, compelling you to alter your physical environment, modeled after your Apple addiction? You turn your dwelling into an Apple store, of course!
I applaud this fellow’s creativity, it really is brilliant. But, still. Jesus!
Brightcove is a fantastic video content site which enables users to roll their own channels, as it were. In effect you become your own director, producer, and publisher, reaching the eyeballs of millions of online viewers.
The name Hamad Darwish may not be a household name, but if you are using Windows Vista chances are you’re already familiar with his work. Microsoft commissioned this well known Flickr photographer to shoot high resolution imagery for inclusion in Vista as desktop wallpapers. So the background you’re probably using now as your desktop is the work of Hamad.
Surprisingly a number of spectacular images he produced for Vista didn’t make the cut, and were not included in the final release. Hamad is now making these previously unreleased images available for download on his personal website, which I encourage everyone to visit.
These desktops are stunning, especially the first selection below which is my personal favorite.
Next month is my birthday, so what better way to celebrate than by sticking it to the man. The “man” in this case being the overlords of the colluded music industry that rape consumers with every CD purchase. This March, send these greedy bastards a message by boycotting all legal music consumption, or better yet select only independent artists for your listening experience. Screw the big labels.
